Transfusion

This is the process of infusing a patient with blood donated by another person. Primarily red blood cells are transferred to the patient to increase the ability of their blood to carry oxygen to the cells. In chemotherapy patients, when the hemoglobin (Hgb) level drops too low, a transfusion will be performed to boost their red blood levels.
